Meet the Band

Mark RobertsMARK ROBERTS (Flute, banjo, whistle, guitar), has been playing Irish music for 25 years. He has recorded and toured extensively, as a solo musician and as a member of the bands Touchstone and The Red Clay Ramblers. His music has been heard on the Rounder compilation of flute and whistle players "Light through the Leaves" and on the soundtrack of the ion Sayles film "The Secret of Roan Inish." He has performed for the last five years with The Red Clay Ramblers in the Broadway show "Fool Moon" with Bill Irwin and David Shiner, in L.A. (including a spot on the Tonight Show), San Francisco, Seattle, Vienna, and Munich.

Srah BlairSARAH BLAIR (Fiddle), began playing traditional Irish fiddle in Providence, Rhode Island's thriving Irish music community. She honed her playing as a sought-after session leader in Boston's Irish pubs, an has played at traditional music festivals around New England and in Canada (see her website). She is well regarded as a teacher and has been invited to teach in Montreal and invited to perform as part of a world music series at the University of Oklahoma.

Stuart KenneySTUART KENNEY (Acoustic bass), is much in demand for his work on upright bass which has taken him to dance and concert venues across the U.S., the Caribbean and to England's Sidmouth Folk Festival. he studied and performed with the late, great Cajum legend Dewey Balfa. Stuart plays with Rodney Miller's New England Chestnuts, who in 1996 appeared on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion." He has performed and instructed at the Ashokan Fiddle and Dance Camp since 1989. For the past five years, Stuart has been a memeber of the nationally-touring band Wild Asparagus.

Mark HellenbergMARK HELLENBERG (percussion), has been involved in traditional music for many years. He has recorded and toured with The House Band and Metamora which included Malcolm Daglish and Grey larsen. He's toured with Flying Fish artists Paul lockheart and Peter Ecklund and has studied percussion around the world bringing his divers knowledge to his playing. He currently produces and host classical music for Ohio University Public Radio, as well as presenting his own eclectic music program which has been on the air for over 15 years.

The newest addition to the Sevens, FLYNN COHEN has been active in the Boston acoustic music scene since moving there in 1999 to join accordionist John Whelan¹s band. He toured and recorded with John for five years before joining the band of Nashville singer/songwriter Adrienne Young. He has also worked with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble, Malibu Storm, HALALI, Aoife Clancy, Jake Armerding, and others. Flynn specializes in Irish traditional music and Bluegrass and has recorded two solo albums.
